Wattbike Monitor Not Recognised
Buy NowIf you connect your Wattbike Monitor to a Windows 7 laptop or PC via USB there may be occasions when installing operating system service packs can cause your computer to stop recognising the monitor properly.
You may see errors similar to "can't find/load a suitable driver" or "the device appears connected but non-functioning". These connection errors can be fixed using the following process:
Windows 7
Step 1.
Remove the software and the USB driver
- Press the Windows Start button and type 'Device Manager', press enter and the Device Manger will open in a new window (The Device Manager allows you to view what hardware is connected to your computer)
- At the bottom of the list of devices is a line – 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers -' click on the triangle next to the title to display all of the USB hardware connected to your computer.
- Identify which one is the Wattbike (this can be done by plugging in the Wattbike and seeing which item is added to the list), right click and choose uninstall. Once uninstall is complete close all of the open windows.
- Now click on the Windows Start button then click Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and un-install the Wattbike Expert Software.
Step 2.
Install fresh versions of the software and USB driver
- Download the latest version of the software from the Wattbike website - wattbike.com/fi/wattbike/expert_ohjelmisto/lataa_ohjelmisto/. Make sure to save this to a location on your computer that you can access easily.
- Unplug your Wattbike from the computer
- Once downloaded, navigate to the file (installer) you have just downloaded, right click on it and select 'Run as Administrator', then right click again and choose Properties from the bottom of the list, this will display another dialogue box with tabs across the top. Choose Compatibility (the second tab) and then check the box next to Run this Program in Compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3 (or 2 depending on how old your computer is).
- Select OK to confirm these changes.
- Now double click on the installer and the software will start to install on your computer. Follow this process through to the end. Only once the software is fully installed and opened on your computer should you plug in your Wattbike USB cable.
- Wattbike Expert software should now recognise your Wattbike and you should be able to monitor and record your sessions using the Wattbike Expert software.
