Looking at the efficiency percentage on the analysis clearly has a relationship with the pedal technique as shown by the polar chart, but could you tell me how it is calculated please. Also if we wanted to use this as a measurable parameter for improving pedalling technique, what would be a reasonable figure to be aiming at. Our club cyclists currently vary between 50 to 75%.

The efficiency % is as of a circle so a crude measure as a circular Polar graph would not be effective - the shape is key as is the angle of peak force - we are working on an alternative way of ‘measuring’ but as you will appreciate there may not be an ‘ideal’ although we are seeing a pattern emerging from top cyclists.

When we have more data we will share it on the main website.

You cannot use the ‘metres loss’ that was an individual thing for an individual athlete.
