The HUUB Wattbike team were back in action last month at the HSBC National Track Championships in Manchester.
After losing Harry Tanfield to Katusha-Alpecin on the World Tour last year, the HUUB Wattbike boys welcomed back a familiar face for the team pursuit in the form of his brother, Charlie Tanfield, who they didn’t actually manage to practice with before the event due to scheduling issues.
This didn’t seem to phase the boys however, as they qualified in first place, and stormed to victory in the final against Team Inspired to take the national title.
John Archibald and Dan Bigham saw further success in the men's individual pursuit on the Friday, where they finished 1st and 2nd in the qualifiers. Archibald rode the second fastest qualifier in history here, setting a new national record with a time of 4-09.584.
Bigham and Archibald then went head to head in the final where Archibald stopped the race in the final kilometre by catching Bigham. As if this was not enough, Archibald went on to win the men's point race as well!
The team are now awaiting confirmation to be selected for the World Track Championships in February, so all fingers crossed for our boys.
