The Zwift KISS Super League kicks off in London

On the evening of the 23rd of January at the Pinarello Store in London, the esports community welcomed a new member onto the esports roster: The KISS Super League, which is the very first dedicated esports competition featuring professional cycling teams, and held exclusively on Zwift.

The premier global online training and racing platform for amateur and pro cyclists is solidifying its position in the cycling industry by launching an innovative and interactive cycling league - to be held completely online. The KISS Super League is an invite only league hosted on Zwift that will consist of UCI Pro Continental teams, UCI Continental teams, as well as community level teams. Each team is made up of eight riders who have been selected prior to the first round which started on the 23rd of January.

Last month, it was announced that the Israel Cycling Academy, Cofidis, SEG Racing Academy, Team Novo Nordisk, Ribble Pro Cycling, and Pro Racing Sunshine Coast would all join the men’s league. In addition to the men’s pro teams, the Zwift Academy Dream Team and the Zwift Community All-Stars will battle it out against the pros each week. Audiences can expect to see thrilling races where amateurs and pros produce some serious watts as they fight for the win.

The Super League Series will take place over the course of 10 weeks. For each round of racing, four racers from each team will race to score points for their team in the overall standings. With a world that is constantly moving towards complete digitalisation, the KISS Super League feels like a natural next step for this digital cycling giant.

Eric Min, Zwift CEO and Co-Founder, comments:

“We have big plans for Zwift and esports. We’ve been consulting the cycling industry and there’s a lot of excitement around what we have planned for 2019. I can’t wait for people to know everything we have planned but for now, you’ll just have to wait and see!”

In addition to the KISS Super League, a community league will be running alongside it.  The league kicked off its first race on Thursday January 31st and will run for 10 weeks.
