Since its development in conjunction with Peter Keen - former director of performance at UK Sport and British Cycling - the Wattbike has become a global icon within elite sport. Wattbike has played a part in the talent identification of many riders currently at the top of their game and continues to be used as a talent identification tool within the world's top cycling and sports federations. It is used as a front line talent screening tool for multiple sports by UK Sport as well as the Japanese Institute of Sport as they prepare for Tokyo 2020.
In February 2015, the UCI World Cycling Centre (WCC) welcomed Wattbikes to their centre in Aigle, Switzerland. The Wattbikes are currently used as a training and testing tool for pro-athletes using the facility, in addition to performing a key role in the talent identification for Junior and U23 athletes throughout the UCI WCC global satellite centres.
