Wattbike connects to your favourite online training diary
Posted by Matt Moran on Oct 01, 2013
From today you can download a firmware upgrade for your Wattbike 2013, bringing new connectivity and testing features which significantly enhance your Wattbike experience.
The new ANT+ connectivity means you are able to store your indoor Wattbike session data alongside your outdoor riding data in one online location with ease. Simply record your Wattbike session live onto a compatible bike computer such as the Garmin Edge range of devices and then upload your Wattbike data to your usual online training diary, e.g. TrainingPeaks, Strava, GarminConnect and MapMyTracks.
Do ensure you have the latest software updates for your devices to take full advantage of the vast range of data recorded by your Wattbike, e.g. Garmin Edge will record left/right leg percentages with the latest updates. You'll also want to customise the screen of devices such as the Garmin Edge to display relevant power data.
You’re also able to connect to an ever-increasing range of online training and racing services such as TrainerRoad and Kinomap using an ANT+ dongle with your computer.
The new testing features will help you to get started with training on a Wattbike. We’re often asked ‘Where do I start?’ and the answer is always, ‘Test yourself to establish your benchmark figures’. The new testing area includes a range of tests which will help you to set your power and heart rate training zones, the foundation of any serious training program.
To access the new ANT+ and testing features you’ll need to update the firmware on your Wattbike Performance Computer – note that these features are only available for WPC B as shown in the image at the top of this blog.
