Development

First product launch

Wattbike launches at the Track Cycling World Championships in Manchester as the first indoor bike endorsed by British Cycling. 

The Pro/Trainer quickly becomes the first choice for elite sports teams, athletes, and performance labs including England Football, Team GB, British Cycling, Porsche, and Red Bull - while also supporting anyone serious about improving their fitness and performance.

Global distribution

The Wattbike was available through a distribution network across 6 continents.

Giant Manufacture

Giant was secured as lead manufacturer.

Crossfit Games

First time supporting the event in the U.S. Wattbike were the surprise reveal event
in the finals.

London Olympics

At the London Games, 29 of 30 track cycling medals were won by athletes training on Wattbikes.

Virgin Active South Africa was the first international key account to install Wattbike in large studios of up to 30 bikes.

Developing Global Talent UCI World Cycling Centre

Wattbike sports scientists began working with coaches form the UCI World Cycling Centre to develop a specific talent identification test protocol. Military Alternative Aerobic Assessment (A3 Test)

Wattbike are made an official
partner of the British Army with the A3 fitness test established within official fitness testing protocols for all recruits and serving personnel. This is a bespoke fitness test was created to offer and alternative text to the standard 1.5-mile run.

Bluetooth

The introduction of Bluetooth technology on the model B monitor for Wattbike Pro/Trainer was launched enabling riders to connect seamlessly to the bikes.

Pedalling Effectiveness Score

A unique world-first measurement,
developed by Wattbike, that allows riders to monitor and improve their pedalling effectiveness Score  (PES). 

Our unique industry measurement, PES, was produced by Dr Barney Wainwright, to improve cycling efficacy alongside our Polar View technology. Polar View is a visual display of your pedalling style and is a world first innovation from Wattbike giving riders in depth technique feedback.
