As Chief Digital Officer at British bike brand Ribble Cycles, it’s no surprise that Wattbiker Matthew Lawson is keen on two-wheeled transport. But with a busy work life, it’s not always easy to find the time – or indeed the weather – for quality training.
Matthew loves his bike, which you would expect for someone who makes them their living. So it’s also no surprise that he’s also quite careful when it comes to looking after it.
“Putting my bike on a trainer always made me worry. Time is limited too, my Wattbike is always ready to go when I am: no resetting Bluetooth, and no swapping wheels. It’s also incredibly accurate – my previous turbo was making me look like a superstar, and I knew I wasn't.”
“My Wattbike is always ready to go when I am.”Having that consistent training platform has paid dividends for Matthew, who’s seeing benefits not just in his Zwift racing but beyond.
“I've gone from a cat D on Zwift to a high Cat B, around 3.8W/kg average. The fringe benefit of this is I no longer run out of gas when coaching my U13 football team, and I’ve lost over 9kg.”So, what’s next for Matthew and his Wattbike?
"Now to push for cat A, and continue to show my boys the importance of fitness and hard work."
