Frequently Asked Questions

How long should I train for Mallorca 312?

Most riders should aim to start training 4-6 months before the event, allowing time to build endurance, improve fitness and gradually increase training volume. Starting earlier also makes it easier to train consistently without needing to cram sessions into the final few weeks.

Can I train for Mallorca 312 indoors?

Yes. Indoor training is an effective way to prepare for Mallorca 312, particularly during the autumn and winter months when weather and daylight can make outdoor riding difficult. Structured indoor sessions help you build fitness, improve endurance and complete quality workouts with fewer interruptions, while longer outdoor rides can be added as the event approaches.

How Wattbike can help you train for Mallorca 312?

Wattbike helps you prepare with accurate power-based training, structured workouts and a realistic ride feel. Whether you're building your aerobic base, improving climbing strength or completing high-quality interval sessions, every workout is designed to make your training time count. With the Wattbike Hub app, you'll also have access to hundreds of guided workouts and training plans to support your preparation.

How much climbing is involved?

The full Mallorca 312 route covers approximately 312 km with around 5,000 metres of elevation gain, taking riders across some of Mallorca's most iconic climbs, including Puig Major. The combination of long climbs, rolling terrain and overall distance makes pacing and endurance just as important as climbing ability.

What FTP should I have?

There isn't a minimum FTP required to complete Mallorca 312. Success depends on a combination of endurance, pacing, nutrition and consistent training rather than FTP alone. Knowing your FTP can help you train in the right zones and pace your effort on event day, making it a valuable tool when preparing.

How often should I train each week?

For most riders, 4-6 training sessions per week provides a solid foundation for Mallorca 312. A balanced week might include two key interval sessions, two to three endurance rides, one strength or mobility session and at least one recovery day. The most important factor is consistency - completing regular, structured training over several months will have a bigger impact than occasional long rides.
