Beckingsale fights back in US MTB World Cup race

A brief update has just arrived at Wattbike HQ from elite mountain biker, Oli Beckingsale, who had a pretty hectic time at the recent World Cup event in the US. Oli suffered from more bad luck outside of his control but he is confident his good form will hold for the National Championships coming up this weekend. > Hello, > > I set off to the 5th Round of the MTB XC World Cup in New York State, USA with high hopes as training had gone well but sometimes things just don't go to plan. > As the races are shorter this year they have become faster so a good start has been essential. I was gridded 37th and with hopes of a top 20 result I was going to need a good start but as the gun went bang I clipped in, started to sprint and there was a big crash on my left which then took me out! > > Thankfully me and my bike were in one piece but it took a while to untangle it, get my chain on and by the time i was going again I was dead last in 105th place. The next few laps were chaos and I was either sprinting to get past another rider on a wide trail or stuck waiting in the tight stuff, frustrating and a killer interval session. > > By the end of the race I finished 41st, disappointed but still with ranking points and as people keep saying, at least you did not break yourself like Brad Wiggins. > There are always other races and I only have to wait 7 days till the National Champs, the form is not going to go anywhere! > > Thanks for the support, > Oli Oli trains on a Wattbike, find out more about the kind of Wattbike sessions Oli does as part of his overall training to be an elite mountain biker.
