We love working with young athletes here at Wattbike HQ and it's particularly nice when we see real progress being made by talent using a Wattbike for training. Ian Richards is one such person, he's spending his first year riding overseas in Holland and is not only enjoying the experience but is gaining some pretty good results too.
Ian recently raced in his first full UCI Tour and the points he gained have placed him in the top 50 riders in the Netherlands, no mean feat I'm sure you'll agree. He's also just extended his contract with Team De Mol for another year which is testament to the hard work and tactical ability Ian has been showing in recent months.
Ian's blog about his first two major Tours are well worth a read and should provide inspiration for any junior cyclist. His tenacity and determination shone through in a stage of the Argos Oil Acht Van Bladel where he made an early break, got caught and then attacked again near to the finish to secure a top 10 place, Ian calls this the best ride of his life so far.
We'll be catching up soon with Ian to find out how he has been using the Wattbike during the season. We know he's found it very useful to be able to train indoors during what's been a miserable summer across Europe so far.
